I should be ordering my alienware tomorrow or the next day, I am trying to keep the price around 1300...could do 1400 but thats pushing it. The one thing I am hooked on is which processor to get...I seem to get mixed responses on this, but I don't want to miss out on anything...what do you guys think?

well i got my M14x for 1370 shipped. the 2630 in the m14x is more then enough for most people, the bottle neck here is the 555m which is not that bad really. get the Fast Track m14x and read the thread where they teach you how to haggle. personally the 2630 with throttle stop locking the multiplier on x20 is more then ill ever need

2630QM. Hands down.
-
My 2630QM has been able to take everything I threw at it.
-
Yup, 2630QM for 95% of people.

A good rule of thumb is that if you can't really decide whether you need a stronger CPU or not, or what you need it for, then you probably don't.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
again? this is the 4th time that you ask this
I think someone needs to put a sticky on how to order a m14x.
compile some good builds and some bad overpriced ones
No you arent going to need it.
There are no performance improvements on games.
If you need the VT-d you just chose the wrong notebook, you need the chipset to boot
If you need AES, get it -

I only have the 2720 because I got an insanely good price on the overall system. I wasn't even considering a processor upgrade before I saw the deal I was able to get. The 2630 is way more than enough processor for 95% of people, including myself.

What is the fast track m14x? And I will look up the haggle thread. Also should i go with wimax or is it not needed?

Depend if you need it or not u_u" -
Lol the answer to every question. It's something that can't really be answered from a forum, you need to ask yourself that
