is it right? i personally know that m15/17/18x can their gpu! based on wikipidia's article Mobile PCI Express Module - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia about MXM it is written that alienware released the m14x with MXM 3.0 A which is the smallest modern MXM-based laptop!
if it's true, which version the one on the customization site?

i also found an amd 6770M designed for the dell M14x! truee? but it says that may require bios upgrades in order for it to be compatible! so maybe it's true

what do you think? any point of views/opinions! let's make a big discussion!!! :D

I don't really think that the m14x will have anything better than the gt555m without a complete redesign in the motherboard/chassis. Idk if it's impossible to add better graphics, but the gt555m is actually an integrated card, which means it's not really a card, more like pieces of it soldered on the mobo. There are a lot of things wrong with the m14x and adding better graphics. First, it'd need a dedicated fan just for the gpu, like the m15/18/18x has. Currently there is no room for that. Secondly, it'll be almost impossible to remove the gt555m, since it's molded to the motherboard. And lastly, Optimus wouldn't work with the amd card, so there would be issues there. Would be nice to have a better card option though ;)

    Short answer: No
    Long answer: Noooooooooooooooo

    Detailed answer:

The GT555m that AW offers are (both versions) directly soldered onto the motherboard. They cannot be upgraded. I see no source for an MXM option on the m14x from google search other than that wikipedia page, and the statement is not even cited. Maybe they mean the M15x (which is hardly the smallest, I would think).

Where did you find an AMD 6770 for the m14x? I suppose you could, if you were really...really... really good with a soldering iron.

Yes, I'd like a refresh which included MXM or at least a refresh with several options for cards, not this "1.5 or 3GB of memory" nonsense they're trying to pull.
