I have an old m14 and was setting it up to give it away to a friend. Reinstalling Windows 7 and 8 and even OSX, the screen tears from time to time randomly and not just during gamin. However, it does not occur when I have Ubuntu installed. I'm thinking it's some driver issue so I tried all combos of old and new drivers for both the Intel HD 3000 as well as the Nvidia GT555 but to no avail. Friend doesn't know Linux but does know both Windows and OS X so I can't give it to her with a Linux distro installed. I've search endlessly over the web and multiple forums but can't find anyone with similar issues. I'm hesitant to downgrade the BIOS from A08 to A05 but might try that since I've tried a lot of things and nothing worked... was also thinking of replacing the screen since it's 1366x768 res but since it works under Ubuntu, it shouldn't be the screen hardware... any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
