why can't i see my post?

    This was what i wrote.

I repasted my m14x a few moments ago with arctic silver 5. After I put it back together i heard 5 beeps. Tried searching about it on google but did not find anything. I tried restarting and this time it turned on. I ran crysis 2 to see if my temps got better. sadly i'm still hitting 90's.

any ideas on what caused the 5 beeps? Anyon else tried AS5 thermal paste with good results? I plan on redoing this next week and tips would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can find the significance of the beeps in the user manual of the m14x.
Beeps are codes for motherboard problems if I recall correctly.

5 beeps = re-seat memory i believe This happens during shipping a lot.

    Which BIOS are your running?

    A05 beep codes:

1 x Possible motherboard failure - BIOS ROM checksum failure
    2 x No RAM detected.
3 x NOTE: If you installed or replaced the memory module, ensure that the memory module is seated properly.
3 x Possible motherboard failure - chipset error
    4 x RAM read/write failure
5 x Real Time Clock failure
    6 x Video card failure

As far as the re-paste, I did it on my m14xr1 about a month ago. I used AS5 with a great result. I got one of the AS5 kits off amazon that included the cleaner solutions. Make sure you clean the CPU & GPU really well. Then I applied the AS5 and used some latex gloves to spread it thin on the chip. Takes about a week before it fully cures, once it did, my CPU temps max out in the low 80s (~50 idle) and my GPU temp maxes out in the low 70s (~44 idle).

You shouldn't have to spread it out manually. If you screw on the heatsink back in the numbered order, it should spread out the paste evenly.

hi guys. i tried again after I woke up and everything is ok now. my CPU now maxes at 77C from ~90C after i turned turbo off and GPU at 66C(w/o OC) and 73C(with 750/1500/900 OC) from 75C. The paste just needed to settle a bit.

I guess the clock failed(5 beeps) because i had to remove the battery in some part of the disassembly. AS5 unlike IC diamond, requires for it to be spread thinly throughout the GPU and CPU as indicated by the manufacturer.

All in all dis-assembly was not that hard i just lacked confidence because it was my first time doing anything of the sort. It took me 3 hrs to do everything XD. just keep a dis-assembly video handy and the m14x manual. I'd say 92-77C is worth it.

I'm also using U2 cooler btw. other m14x specs in my sig.
