Ok peeps, i have been overclocking for a few years now, and I bought this bad alienware, I jumped into BIOS..... and W.T.F!?!?!

How the hell do you OC in this god forsaken BIOS? I am use to the AWARD BIOS, very OC Friendly. I really expected a better BIOS for a Alienware!

Does anyone have or know of a good tutorial, on this BIOS, so i can OC my CPU?

It's my understanding that none of the Sandy Bridge mobile CPUs except for the 2920XM Extreme are really overclockable as they are all multiplier-locked (just like the SB desktop CPUs that are not in the K-series). You can try playing with the bus speed using some programs (setFSB), but short of having a 2920XM, there isn't a lot you can do to the CPU.

You could also try forcing Turbo boost speeds all the time.

I've watched the linked video, and I'm not really sure what that setting is actually changing, or if it is at all significant of an OC. Bus speed is the same, multiplier is locked, what else can you really do?

hmm... thats pretty dissapointing... I shoud have done my research before purchasing I guess. Still a good laptop though. Oh and the SetFSB is garbage now, i downloaded and went to use it... ITS NOT FREE ANYMORE... i got a message saying I had to pay X amount of yen to use it.. felt like a ransom notice!... lol

I watched the video and applied the settings... havent installed CPU-Z yet to see the new CPU Speed, but I know windows and my Core Temp gadget still show my clock speed as 2057mhz. On my desktop when I OC in the BIOS Windows 7 shows the new speed in the system properties, not sure why it doesnt do it with the lappy.
