Got my alienware not long ago and pretty pleased with it.
I saw there is a sim slot and tried it, didn't work.

As I tried searching on the net, I couldn't really find it.
Some users were saying the slot is there but there are no hardware attached to it.
Is it I have to install a hardware then the software before I can use it?

Not too sure so I post my question here :(

yeah i think you need to buy a wan card and it will be connected to the sim slot, then it will work. there is an open slot underneath the battery beside the wifi card which is what i think it is for.

I asked that same question here. Unfortunately, you have to get the wwan card and route 2 or so antennas through the laptop. Some people have done it, but if you needed mobile internet on your m14x, maybe it'll be better to stick with the usb network dongle.

Or just make your phone a Wi-Fi hot spot for free.
