    Hello!

Yesterday I got a new mx14x laptop. Everything worked fine, till I replaced laptops hdd with my ssd. I did it very carefully, I dont think I could have broken anything. Now everytime I boot up my laptop I got this warning message - that the battery has not been identified... When windows boots up , clicking on battery shows 0% available. I have read a lot that this might be a BIOS problem, but the problem with flashing BIOS is that when I try to install it I got this message - "the battery capacity must be above 10% before the system BIOS can be flashed". Long story short I got no warranty for this laptop, what are my other options except buying a new battery ? Btw, I tried this "holding power button for 30 seconds" it didnt work.

    Thanks in advance!

try disconnecting and connecting the battery again or put back your hdd and see if the problem persists. Install uninstall drivers from dell site using your service tag. If the components are faulty then warranty is your only fall back. dell won't replace parts without warranty so you'll have to buy them and cross your fingers it's not the mobo, it may go up for as high as a discounted refurb.

Sorry to be off topic but you still should have warranty because the m14 hasn't been out for more than a year. Try checking dell with your service tag to check your warranty status.

the problem still persists when I put back the previous hdd, I have tried everything, except flashing BIOS, and doing a lot of search on google, I have found out its 90% of the time what causes this battery problem. But as I wrote I`m not even able to flash my BIOS because my battery capacity is below 10%

There is an option found in the BIOS where you can disable/enable the charging, try that by go into the BIOS and change the setting to disable (if it is enable), save change then restart, after you got into windows try restarting the computer and go into the BIOS to enable that option again, save change then restart, that would instruction the BIOS to start recharging the battery again. But if it still doesnt then I think your battery might be dead, call Dell for battery replacement.

Btw, you may also want to try reflash the BIOS before you call Dell just to make sure you have try all of the troubleshooting procedure, and when you call them, let them know what you have did as well, that would boost the troubleshooting speed.

after enabling this thing in BIOS, now when booting I got this message, that my battery has experienced permenent failure and needs to be replaced, I just found a lot of threads about this problem , and eventually it might turn out its motherboards fault. Hmm, why did I buy this piece of . If you google for battery problems , dell is on the top of the list

how can i flash my Bios to A08? maybe it would fix it? If i use dos , it says that programe is not supported in dos mode, but in windows im still not able to flash it, because the battery is below 10%

Are you on AC mode? Because the last time I reflash the BIOS I didnt even have the battery plug in, and it work fine, so you might want to remove your battery if Windows doesnt allow to flash it with low battery.
