so ive been having problems with my day old m14x and it turned out to be a bad motherboard. it makes video playback impossible to watch and all the aero (max, min) animations lag like im using a 10 year old comp with w7.
Now if i boot onto safe mode and exit and boot into normal, the computer passes this test and acts as if nothing is wrong with it.

So my question is do you guys think it is the motherboard or just software related, I even did a fresh install of w7 and get the same thing

the error it gave me using alien autopsy is under
    System Board
    ---RTC Accuracy Test
    ----Failed (Error code: WSB01-H6J)

but anyways called up alienware and should have a new system in a week. Has anyone else experienced this?

The RTC Accuracy Test failure could mean the CPUs and the boards clock sync is not accurate which causes interrupts thats where your lag comes from. The drivers try to compensate and that takes more time than nanoseconds so you can feel/see the lag while watching videos.

This out of sync problem could be a hardware failure specially when you reinstalled windows already. But there are also still alot of driver / chipset issues with the new Ivy Bridge boards (f.e. the USB 3.0 driver problem you can see in my thread).

Try to get a replacement for you mainboard and see if this solves the problem if yes it was a hardware issue. If not you have a driver problem.

Dont forget we are all still Beta Testers for Intels new Ivy Bridges

And no i had no issues like that.

    Hi guys,

Sorry for waking up this topic :p

I had the same troubles with my M14x r2. I tried to replace drivers, disable some aero options, tried to start a video using the nvidia card instead of the intel, but nothing helped. Finally i have reset the bios to default, and have disabled all the options i don't use. It seems that it helped as i can't reproduce the problem, but i'm pretty sure that the problem will come back as soon i enable those options again...

Did the mainboard replacement solve the problem ?
