and what specs are you guys hopeing to see ?
-
Ivy Bridge and Kepler, pretty much only major differences, would like to see someone make a 9.5 mm blu ray and a battery fix with more power to fix the gaming on battery issue. Also probably windows 8.0
-
Fix the battery issue and the fan kicking on every 30 seconds.
-
Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card, higher quality screen, and all of the above.
My guess for when is Q2 2012. -
You can put the 6300 in now if you wanted
-

Maybe loud fan fix too.

-
Never said it would be perfect
-
when is it supposed to come out??
-
-
SaosinEngaged Notebook Evangelist
The first m14x JUST CAME OUT.
"But when will the R2 come out!!?!?!?!?"
Well gee, logic would dictate a couple months after NEW HARDWARE comes out.
Yeesh.
I really hate topics like these.
EDIT:
What specs would I like to see?
i7-990x Desktop processor
Crossfire 580m
3 HDD slots
Blu Ray
RGB LED
Singularity Opener
Time Machine capabilities?? -

How could I forget? -
hey in gfx card market or the mobile phone market thats EXATTELY what happens , screw it might as well run with a kryptonite power source maybe dell will shoot them selfs in the foot , cause superman cant use it ...... sorry for trying to start a discussion
Some people have stated they are waiting for r2 -
You forgot the trinnium/naquada alloy chassis.
Saosin said it best - a new laptop needs new tech first. -
An ATI/AMD graphics card option would be nice...
-
dont forget a mini-display port that shoots unicorn poop and does 9000p to an external at 400 FPS
-
It can play console games.
-
A battery that doesnt throw in the towel when i try to game.
-
It'll also make you home style cookin'
-

And some sweet, sweet nighttime lovin'
-
Ok looks like we are here to get creative... I'll let my imagination run wild.
M14x R2...
- IPS or RGB WLED+ Display. 1080P would be nice since I watch a lot of movies on my laptop.
- Ivy Bridge i9-9000XM Processor (???? GHz)
- LED Colored Display on each key on the keyboard. Fully Customizable keys
- Touchpad can be removed and used as an external mouse
- 2 4" speakers with 2 subwoofers 100 Watts? LMAO
- SATA IIII 1 TB SSSD (Super solid state drive) 1GB/s read-write
- Nvidia 6XX GTX Dedicated card
- Windows 8 with no boot times. Right after the bios splash screen shows the windows desktop is ready (Windows loads in the background)
- NO OPTICAL DRIVE (2 hard drive ports)
- Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 ports.
Disclaimer: Some stuff here is made up. Not to be taken seriously -
-
I'd except to see an X360, PS3 and Wii built in, not too much to ask for really? After all, it is a gaming computer.
-
Actually, going realistic here. I'm guessing maybe a GPU upgrade for the NVIDIA 600 series, and HDMI in. Also maybe better cooling, a better screen, and the ability for 16gb of RAM.
EDIT: And possibly some things to make the battery last longer -
Isn't 16gb already a possibility? max 8gb would feel really weird on o a laptop with such modern and relatively high-end HW.
-
Well the m14x has 2 ram slots, so you would need 8gb x2 which I've been searching for but cannot find. Though I too found it weird that the m11x could have 16gb of ram but the m14x could only have 8. I mean you'll never really need more than 8 for gaming but 16gb would be nice for people who do alot of CAD and multi tasking
-
Ah, there's only two slots, guess that explains it. How rare is it for 2nd gen SB to have 4 dimm-slots?
I looked a little just now and found some packages, don't remember tho if it was so-dimm or regular. -
Are we getting closer to a R2?
Can the R2 have 3D?
I guess waiting for an R2 would not be reasonable making the purchase of the R1 a logical one?
Just some questions before pulling trigger on R1.
Thanks -
What can we expect from the R2..D2
thank you very much,I'll be here all night -
macbooks already have time machine!
-
Hohum, I would like,
-Quantum processor CPU
-Quad SLI graphics
-64GB RAM
-4 terabytes RAID0 SSD
-2560x1600 display
-12 hour battery life
-Blu ray burner
Okay, seriously speaking now. I think MXM graphics card, Ivy bridge processor and some better cooling would be enough. A screen with more colour gamut maybe, and RGB led. -
Hoping for Ivy Bridge, GeForce 560m or higher (580m hopefully), remove the CD drive for more space and cooling for the GPU, eSATA port and ThunderBolt.
-
-
The only improvements they could make would be 1080p screen and a gtx 580m
what a machine that would be!!!!!!!!!!!! a silent fan would be nice as well
Alienware M14x Black / i7-2820QM / Nvidia GeForce GT555M 1.5GB / 8GB Kinston hyper X XMP RAM / 900P Screen / Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205 / Bluetooth 3.0 / OCZ Vertex 2E 120 GB /Win 7 Pro x64 -
i want it to have a 10 hour battery life !!!!!! and i want it NEXT YEAR !! bcoz im about to purchase the R1 version sometime this month hohoho ^_^
-
1580p screen
Nvidia 585 desktop video card
At least 15 hours of battery while gaming
3 1/2 AND 5 1/4 floppy drives
Blueray burner
2 HDD bays
No fan noise
under 4lbs with power brick
Sounds great to me. -
thinner than the macbook air with quad desktop GTX 590's
-
isn't there a date like 25th of octobre?
-
-
I am not sure about you guys but the thread name is when can we expect it, not what can we expect in it.
Those of you who are dreaming about time machines and 15hr of battery while gaming-you will need to wait until they invent nuclear batterys which would last decades. -
Realistically, I'd home for (specs if it came out in the near future):
- No optical drive
- a nVIDIA 580m or ATi 6990m that takes the space from the lack of a disc drive with a switchable option and separate fan
- Support for a 2920XM
- Better motherboard layout so that all major components (CPU, GPU, etc.) are easily accessible just by removing the panel
- Bigger button-less trackpad that is made of glass like MacBooks
- Smaller bezel around the screen -
- smaller bezel around screen I can understand
- 1080p is retarded, sometimes the text is so small with 900p on a 14" form factor -
ideally they should:
new ivy bridge processors
new generaton nvidia gpu gtx series
same battery
optional blu-ray burner or secondry ssd/hdd or better graphics/battery
matte screen option -
i still want a dvd/blu ray though :/
-
I spoke with a Dell rep tonight who said that the new alienware laptops will be out before Christmas. I asked if it would include a bluray drive internally and he said that spec is undecided.
I'm holding out for that. -
dell rep always give false information! ask some people here they always give false info
-
A new M14x before Christmas doesn't make sense for several reasons. For one it's in the middle of the holiday shopping spree so lots of people would return it for the newer model. More importantly, the transition to 28nm graphics hasn't started yet, and I for one would like to see Ivy Bridge in the R2. A new M14x now wouldn't be particularly new in other words. But who knows... HP just announced new Envy laptops for December.
-
Just enjoy the m14x for the minute!!!!! It still has plenty of life in it.
-
m14x r2 when can we expect it ?
