I have had this super upgraded m14x for about one month and slowly I am noticing two issues that are making me want to exchange this. The screen gamut is listed as incredibly low (I believe just over 42%) while most of the other laptops in that list rate above 55%. I am noticing that this screen seems really dim at full brightness (yes I am plugged in). What gives?
I have to carry this thing for about 2 miles total everyday for the time being so I am happy that it is not the m17x, but I am sort of wishing I had the bigger screen and the power. For what I have paid for this thing (it has parts that are better than most peoples' desktops) the screen seems stupidly dim.

Review Alienware M14x Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews
Under paragraph named Display there is a red link for a modified icc. Load it in control panel/color management and see if it looks better than default. I stay on the custom icc, colors look better (not blueish, but much warmer). If you have probs loading the icc or keeping it loading automatically, let me know. -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
you can always try to upgrade your screen to a radiance HP screen called by DELL RGB much brighter and colorful since you can just pop out that glass

Radiance screen is 14.5 inches. Youd need a 14.1 I think

I was wondering myself if there is a higher gamut screen which fits the m14x
