why did dell not give the option of the 460gtx or ati 6870 etc on the m14x , is it so the m14 didnt outperform the m17?
It seems a waste of the m14 as gfx cant be upgrade to put a mid range gfx card with no upgrade options , dont get me worng i cant wait to get my one , i am just afraid that the new games comming out ie bf3 etc will mean turning things down to low ......

if the m14x can play C2 in high setting BF3 is going to be cake

I think it's because of the size and heat that the M14x generates, it's quite high for a laptop as it is.
However, I would've loved to have an ATi 6970 in my M14x. -
Two reasons:
1. Space. The graphics card in the M14x isn't a card at all; it's soldered on to the motherboard, one of the reasons being to save space. There just wouldn't be enough physical room in the machine for a bigger GPU even if it was soldered on.
2. Heat. As it is Alienware is already pushing the thermal limits for what you can stick into a 14" notebook. A more powerful card would almost certainly overheat. -
+ 555 is already causing shutdown nightmares. 460 will only make it worse

Too many people expect the m14x to be the m15x R3. That's what the m17x R3 is....
Even if you don't like or agree, that's how it is. This is Dell's plan. So for everyone that doesn't understand why there isn't a 460m in the m14x, I refer you to my above point. While you may not like it, the m14x is NOT the replacement to the m15x. -
Lack of optimus and not being able to hype battery life
why no ati or gtx460 option?
