I guys, just got a new 3D TV but cannot get the 3D to work from the M17x through HDMI, I'm currently downloading the latest Nvidia Drivers which I'm not happy about installing but I guess I need to check, when I try to run a 3d movie I get an error message or even the Nvidia 3D Test screen, shutter glasses are working on the TV but 3D is disabled as it doesn't detect a 3D input, any pointers would be appriciated.

Do you have an HDMI 1.4 cable? That may be an issue.

Check if your screen supports 120Hz input thru HDMI.
If not use dual link DVI.

    yes it's a 1.4 cable
the TV is a samsung UA476400D, I have tried various refresh rates and this is what seems to be the issue, Nvidia looks at the TV and will not allow refresh rate adjustment in 3D mode, I think this is a driver issue not recognising the TV so it won't allow 3D, wish Nvidia would just unlock these features and let the customer tweak the settings, I have the 285.62 drivers downloaded but I'm hesitant to install as my current drivers are very stable

ok I'm a little further with this, after installing the latest Nvidia drivers I now have 2x 3D resolutions to choose from, 1920/1080p but only at 24hz or 1280/720 at 60hz, is this because of the cable I bought or what is the limitation, acording to the TV specs it should support 60hz at 1080P HD. how can I tell if the HDMI cable I bought is the correct one, it was made in china and says 1.4, if the cable is the limitation how can I be sure of this ?

has anyone found a video player that allows the playing of 3D MKV files in 3D on an external TV, my TV is now working in 3D but the Nvidia 3D player which works in 3D on my laptop screen does not work on my TV

sorry ignore my last, working now with Nvidia player, had it on monoscopic instead of stereo, pity the refresh rate is only 23hz in 1080p mode, my tv is capable of 60hz 1080, weird but 720p is ok at 60hz

well after researching this whole 3D to TV thing it becomes apparant that 1080p refresh rate will never be more than 23hz and 720p 60hz due to limitations of the HDMI bandwidth, sttrange why nobody has thought of combining 2x HDMI links for transfer of 3D, here is an interesting article which explains most of it.

Long-Term Test: 3D HDTVs for Movies, Games, and TV - Tested

So mentioned above about dual DVI connections - I'd like to know more about this if the poster can explain

my tv only seems to have one DVI/HDMI connection, it has VGA though but I think I read somewhere that 3D is only possible with HDMI

    "1920/1080p but only at 24hz or 1280/720 at 60hz"
Your TV does not support 1080P 60hz in 3D. There is no source material that have that specification (expect gaming).

The whole 3D thing with TVs is a mess since TVs does not have 120hz like monitors. TV get 3D effect on by cutting the TV resolution in half. Usually 720P per eye.

Having 60hz would double the bandwidth in 3D. This is why monitors are better for gaming in 3D then TVs. TVs does not have 120Hz.

As a good 3D player: PowerDVD11 is great. It have the best upscaling from 2D to 3D i have seen.
