    Urgent because I need my computer for University.

    So my M17x is not charging. Here is the deal:

    1) The blue light ring on the tip of the charger is lit up.

    2) The laptop still runs on battery.

    So either the charger is lit up but does not charge properly or the laptop is not getting charged properly.

    If it is the latter then I am not shipping this back for them to fix it (not under warranty) because my R key is also broken and I called before and they said its like 200+ just to fix the keyboard. Can't imagine how much it would take to fix all this. I might as well buy a $500 desktop. Or is it the charger? I don't wanna waste money/time buying another charger to find out its not the charger tho.

    Any tips?

    its the mother board if anything is actually wrong. try this.

    1) power down the laptop completely
    2) remove the battery and anything else that is connected to the laptop
    3) Remove the RAM
    4) once everything is disconnected from the laptop, Hold the power button down for 2 mins { yes TWO minutes =)}
    5) replace the RAM & battery
    6) plugin the charger & Boot the computer

    if it STILL doesn't charge, the battery the Voltage Regulator is likely fried. and a MB replacement is the only FIX.

    EDIT: if that doesn't work you can also try re flashing the BIOS sometimes that has resolved the issue in the past.
