I am posting for a friend, im the tech savy one and he asked me to help him out with his issue!
he recently had his old keyboard break, and ordered a new one from dell, recieved it and put it in himself, upon putting it in, it will not recognize anything but a few keys (s p), On screen keyboard works, however he cannot get into Bios, and does not have an external keyboard to try and use.
I've got teamviewer access with him, as he is in Virginia, and im in another state (he moved heh) and i'm trying to help him remotely, i installed a new Bios version, and OSD drivers, and it actually allowed a few of the other keys to work, That's something that was odd to me, because now it sounds like it is actually NOT just a hardware issue, espicially due to the he gained some functionality after doing an update..
Any recomendations etc would be helpful!

Fixed it, Problem was not with the ribbon cable or keyboard itself, in fact it was the ribbon cable from the plug to the motherboard, the opposite end was not connected properly and was lose...
He's been at this on his own for 6 days, and 1 30 minute face time fixed it.. xD
Long story short, Always ask if it's plugged in first.. -
