    Are the cards already flashed?

If so, that only means your graphics driver is not installed.
See this post to install 301.42 version.

Please report back with your result.

Actually no, it says it cant find compatible hardware. when i put the inf file into display.drivers it dint prompt me to replace any file, could this be the reason?

also it has an english folder not an international folder in the 301.42 driver folder, dont know why

Ok i got the driver working but now it says my 9400m is the primary :(, i turned off intergrated at the start though

    Edit:
YESSS i got it all working

    Hello,

Whenever I did for the second one (nvflash -4 -5 -6 -i 1 t.rom), it says something about "not specified". Couldn't read all of it since it autoclose.

    Please advise.

    EDIT :

Already restart my system and nothing change at all. Both are still GTX280M :(

The BIOS name that you saved will be in place of the "t.rom" portion of that command line instead. It's stating not specified because you didn't name your new BIOS "t.rom" so you're asking it to flash to a file that doesn't exist.

I did exactly like what written on the first page.

But what is "new BIOS"? Is it one of the 3 files that OP provided on the first page?

    ADD :

The "t.rom" is from GTX 285M BIOS file, and only one file. I just place that .rom file into the "C:\Nvflash 64 bits" like asked.

When i did it, I just copied the txt string from the first post and pasted it into my open dos window. Maybe your mistyping the command or something, but i would take a look and make sure everything is extracted in the 64 bits folder and some file you need isnt still in the zip folder or something. It kinda looks like the nvflash isnt running.
But if you did get the 0 card to flash, but not the 1 card, then nvflash is working, but there is an error on your second card. try to reproduce the error and catch what all it says.

    Hello people,

I will try to cut it short but prepare for big facepalm.
Yesterday I decided to undervolt and underclock my GTX280M being summer and all. I fumbled with the BIOS settings and noticed the lack of possibility to do anything with fan speeds. Reading a bit this was named a result of maybe to old BIOS or unsupported by hardware. I remebered having seen on this forum a thread before about being able to flash a 280M to 285M so I thought to do that as this BIOS might be newer. I found this thread, took the BIOS, modified it and noticed that fan stuff is still unchangeable. I decided to flash it anyway.

Now I'm sitting here with a blank screen since yesterday, trying to resolve this.
I tried blind flashing my original BIOS back (autoexec.bat with "nvflash -r -4 -5 -6 t.rom") without success.
I just noticed that this thread was not the one I actually had in mind but instead is for Alienware, so of course it was my mistake taking this BIOS for my Clevo W870CU Nvidia.
Anyway, the card is not dead. I think BIOS post tries to tell me no GFX card found as I get two beeps. When I press F1 (usually like press F1 to continue) it proceeds with booting.
Unfortunately Windows does not boot, but I can boot from CD and USB Flash for sure. I am able to get a picture out of the card using GRML 2012.05 Linux LiveCD which uses nouveau drivers for nvidia cards.
Unfortunately this doesn't help me much as I was unable to find nvflash for Linux nor run it using Wine.

My Clevo laptop does not have the possibility to install a second GPU nor do I have 2nd Gen iX Proc with integrated graphics.

Any suggestions what I can do? I don't necessarly want to keep this as a Linux box.

I will try if I can get GPU-Z to work using Wine to see what it actually says for BIOS and GPU Type and keep this updated.

    Actual specs of my Laptop:
    Clevo W870CU
    i7-720QM
    GTX280M 1GB
    8GB G-Skill RAM
    OCZ Vertex2 SSD + Original 320GB Seagate Momentus 7200.4

Sorry to hear about your problem, the thing is when I was trying to make this guide and get process well done I noticed that vbios's are much more than the options you can actually edit with Nibitor, I mean you can have two "identical" vbios on Nibitor and still one may not work properly once flashed to the video card. What I'm trying to say is you just need to find the right GTX 285M vbios for your video card, then you can do the "upgrade" flash.

About your problem, a blind flash is your only option, you can do it from a USB pendrive. Check the step 4, on this guide and see if it works (I never tryed, because the M17x comes with an IGP):

Guru3D.com Forums - View Single Post - GUIDE for Flashing BIOS of NVIDIA GPU

It seems it works only on the M17x, but it should work on any GTX 280M replacing the vbios I provided with the right vbios for your video card.

Guys, don't flash a Clevo 280M with a Dell/AW vBIOS in a Clevo system and vice versa.

AiYoriAoshi, sorry to hear about your problem but as pointed out by Tyranus, a blind flash or putting the card in a system that supports dual cards or iGP are your only options.

Additionally you can try plugging an external monitor thru the VGA port and see if you get it to post.

Well, I know that its totally my fault for not paying attention.

What I found out so far is that the card is now being identified as GTX 285M and it is also found by nvflash when I do a "nvflash --list -L log.txt" to log the result.
Problem is, that when I try "nvflash -4 -5 -6 -L log.txt t.rom" it doesn't log anything but it seems like it is also not doing anything.
I also tried other commands like:
nvflash -r (which produces a one time beep and when I log it, I get the same output as --list)
    nvflash -r -4 -5 -6
    nvflash -5 -6
    nvflash -5 -6 -A -y

Here's what I am able to log:
    *** NVFLASH LOG FILE ***

    The original BIOS had (?,060A,10DE,065C)

The Laptop comes only with HDMI and DVI Outputs but I'm also not getting picture from there.

You have to mod the INFs in order to get the new drivers to install on the M17x R1. Just follow my post ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/724275-help-me-i-cant-unistall-new-nvidia-driver-320-49-a.html#post9276339) and you should be up and running in no time.

BTW, I just flashed my 280Ms to 285Ms so here is the modded INFs for these cards. Good luck!!

    Hi all.

I have a Sager NP5790 64bit win7 Ultimate with Nvidia Geforce 280m installed. I followed the instructions on page one after reading the thread, the flash happend fine, but once i restarted it is now a black screen, from power on it is black, i hear it goto windows but thats it, cant see a thing. I tried reversing it using the blind flash method but i cant go into the bios to change the boot order to usb! Been at it all day, ive even tried using a CD instead with the Autoexec.bat to run the flash and still nothing, i made a dos 6.22 boot disk and with power iso added the required files from the boot usb i made, it spins up but doesnt really seem to fix anything. I cant tell if its reflashing with the original 280m bios as i cant see anything...

    Any ideas on a solution?

    Thanks for your time

    Hi again.

Ive managed to get the blind flash happening with a win98 boot disc but every gtx280m bios i flash still has no effect at turning the screen back on!

I took the back of my Sager NP5790 and the video card is a Nvidia Geforce GTX 280m n10e-gtx

Can anyone please please please kindly upload a bios for this card? (Nvidia Geforce GTX 280m n10e-gtx) i went at it all gunho and did not back up my original BIOS, ive updated bios's so many times in the past and got too cocky...

Thanks so much if someone would take the itme to do this :'( as right now i am screwed :(

I believe these are instructions for flashing an Alienware 280M, adunno if your card is bricked now because of this flash or not.

Well it is at this moment (bricked) unless some kind person uploads a bios for the card Nvidia Geforce GTX 280m n10e-gtx the bios sticker on the card says BIOS:00.07.

I know I should've backed it up, as I said its just I've done risky flashes in the past many times and got way to complacent.

So again if anyone in the Gaming Notebook community could upload the bios for this card Nvidia Geforce GTX 280m n10e-gtx BIOS:00.07 I would be so appreciative.

    Thank you so much

I don't think you are going to get much higher on Battlefield 4, even with updated drivers, the card is really showing its age.

Wow this IS a blast from the past lol. Yeah that sounds pretty good, you can try tweaking the obvious settings like shadows etc but that's pretty good for a system of that age.
