Hi guys. I have a strange problem with my Aw 17 R1. While I was using the laptop with external monitor (Dell S2415H), it started to lose signal/images, every 2-3 seconds. So I unplugged it and the laptop screen works perfectly. I try another HDMI cable but the problem persist. So I tried to enter the boot option just to make a diagnostic using Dell ePSA. But when I press F12 (or either F2) the laptop go on black flashing screen like the video. So now I cannot enter BIOS or Boot Option. I think the two problems are related. After normal start the laptop works as normal.

My configuration is in signature. I’m using a Dell S2415H via HDMI.

    Any idea?

Why don't you buy a minidvi to hdmi converter.

I had this problem with my DK2. It went away when using this.

Already tried a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable, but it dosen't work. Curiously now the external monitor works, but not the BIOS.

    Update:

It seems the 880m has gone. The laptop show black screen at startup/bios/Windows. Fortunately i have the old 860m, i put it inside and all work correctly. What could it be?

I'm stumped too. This was one of my cards, but it was a card from DELL directly meant for a replacement in an AW17, and replacement cards in Quebec, from DELL are always new, because of the consumers act protecting people here in Quebec, so not refurbished or used or anything. I tested the card briefly, it worked without issue.

I am wondering now, if it needs a special vbios for the 120hz screens or something.

I swear I have had this issue he is having before, but it was so long ago I don't remember what the cause is, I know he is on dedicated mode, because he has the 120hz screen. So fully UEFI - or is it possible he is not UEFI compliant and it will load the exterior screen using an Analogue display ? that has to be it right ?

Check your boot settings, see if your using any sort of legacy in the boot options. Just send me a photo of the settings in the boot menu (or did you already do this ??)

I would reset the bios, see if that fixes it. Maybe reseat the cable for the screen, could be loose.

I might be stabbing in the dark here, because I do not know the exact reason your having this issue.

I swear, I tested this card before shipping, but I tested it in a 60hz system, and it worked fine.

    Update:

    1. I reset the BIOS
    2. Secure boot: disabled
    3. Unplugged PSU and battery cable.
    4. Press power button many seconds.
    5. Remove 860m and put 880m
6.....no changes, the issue is still there.

With 880m plugged i cannot reach also the BIOS.
Maybe i have a broken cable between GPU and panel?

I’ve read another post and tryed this procedure (with 860m plugged):
    1. Power the laptop with “D” button pressed.
    2. No beeps It makes 8 beeps (i'm not sure if 7 or 8, i'll check this evening).
    3. then it’s show a white screen
    4. The laptop shutdown.
I have to try same procedure with 880m?
Maybe the 880m uses some cable or hardware that 860m dosen't?

P.S.: This happen always when the warranty is gone (novembre 2016) :D
