I just got a 2x4gb Samsung ddr3 1600 30nm yk0 ram and to my dismay, when tried to overclock on bios, the option does not work. the memory speed doesn't change(1866, 2133). the timings also does not work properly if input the cl9 it would apply as 9-14-14-45. the voltage also doesn't function properly as the lowest setting available is 1.5v

    So far, I have tried unlocked A08, 10, 12.

Regarding my 6990m, I am using windows 8 x64 pro and the stick Dell driver. the issue is that the graphics switching sometimes doesnt work. Installing drivers from AMD is unsupported.

Is the issues I have normal for this laptop?

with the RAM, I'm happy with mine at 1600mhz and haven't really messed with it, so I'm not sure how to overclock it to get higher speeds. As to your graphics issues however, if your running the dell stock driver, just install 12.11 beta 11 or the newer 13.1 WHQL driver and you should have graphics switching and everything else enabled. You need to have the dell driver installed first though so graphics switching works properly. Don't use a driver sweeper when you try to fix an install of drivers or it will pretty much make it impossible to get switchable graphics to work until you reinstall windows.
