    hello there,

got a weird problem with my m17xr3. first time i boot, the screen stays black (no picture, no backlit) and the system only gives me 5 beeps, pause, 5 beeps etc.

only way to go is push the power button to turn it off.
pushing the button again, the system starts and reboots 2 times right away.
after that, everything seems normal and windows is starting up.

this repeats everytime i turn on the notebook.

i tried swapping the ram, no effect.

so, i recalled that theres a way of telling the system to test itself, unfortunatly i forgot which key to press during bootup. maybe someone can help me out here please.

    oh btw, forgot to mention:
in windows, i cant locate any problem with any component whatsoever. everything seems to work the way it should be, which kinda freaks me out why the system beeps on a fresh startup.

hey, thanks for your reply, although f10 just takes me to windows 7 bootup-preferences ;)

anyway, i figured out the problem. apparently 5 beeps mean theres something wrong with the power supply.
guess either a faulty a/c or something wrong with my multi socket.
