Today I received my ATI 5870 Slave GPU (right GPU) and installed it :)

I took oportunity to repaste CPU and GPU's

    I used:
Fujipoly thermal pads 1.0mm for VGA Memory chips
    Tuniq TX-3 for the GPU's

Fujipoly thermal pads 1.0mm + 0.5mm (1.5mm) for the CPU mosfets
    Tuniq TX-3 for the CPU (i7 940xm)

I attached 2 pictures with temps:
1 pic after 5 minutes of win7 in idle
1 pic after 6 minutes of furmark 1.8.2 (multi GPU) with extreme burning mode Enabled

    Indoor temperature is 22,5 Celcius

I noted that slave gpu runs a little cooler then the main gpu. is it normal ?

Yes, the GPUs will both run at different temperatures. So will your CPU cores. Those are nice temperatures there, and keep in mind that FurMark is a worst-case scenario program. Very few games will ever get them that hot.

Thanks a lot yor your reply,

I repeated the above test for 10 minutes and max GPU wa 86C so it's more or less a stable setup (I enabled 5% overclock in BIOS)

You should be using 0.5mm for the VGA memory on an R2.

The stock pads that were installed there were 1 mm thick and were just touching , that's why i installed them with 1 mm thermal pads

Btw, it was a good idea to repaste cos the gpu chips were almost as shiny as new, with very very few thermal paste, touching only 1 angle of the chip

P.s. i did not do the retention clip mod
