You probably want to start using the latest Verde drivers, though there is one caveat you should be aware of: the Verde drivers can cause crashes with your card in games and gpu accelerated video (i.e. WMV/Flash). You can stop the crashing my disabling PCI Express Gen 2.0 in BIOS.

I'm rocking the 280.19 betas at the moment with PCI Express Gen 2.0 on and no crashes so far, but I've very rarely had crashes in the past with any of the Verde drivers, and with the performance hit I got in Witcher 2 with it off, I'd rather have the crashes.

The pre-Verde drivers (i.e. 19x) don't have the issue, but they're just getting too long-in-the-tooth (i.e. old) for use with the newer games.

I'm using the latest verde 280.26 and getting absolutely terrible performance in the Witcher 2 at 1920x1200 on lowest possible settings with frequent drops in fps going lower than 10 (anyone know what's causing this??).

I have the 280m Sli config. Disabling SLI does remove the frequent drops in fps though, anyone else getting similar performance in witcher 2, is that expected out of these cards by now? Also Bad company 2 doesn't seem to have the best performance either...

Just had a chance to re-test Witcher 2 and BFBC2 on these drivers, not getting any of the issues you're having becks7, both running great.

Witcher 2 running Ultra settings but with Shadow, Shadow Lights on high, and AA and Ubersampling disabled (granted I only run at 1650x1080 via external monitor). BFBC2 everythings maxed except AA which is only at 1x (since I can't disable it).

EDIT: Side-thought, do you have PCI Express Gen 2.0 disabled in BIOS? I had large frame drops with that disabled in Witcher 2.

Seems it was a BIOS issue on my end, after updating to the latest one, my throttling issue disappeared and fps was fine in both games! Also deleted the 3d driver package which seemed to help a bit.
