Hi guys i have questions to ask and please feel free to make suggestions .

Currently my m17x r3 specs are

    i7-2860QM
    8GB RAM
    64 Bit windows 7 ultimate
    Gtx 560m

I am thinking of adding a ssd and a extra hard disk as this will be my desktop replacement,

may i ask how many extra hard disk slots are available ? Total 2 extra and altogether there are 3 hard disk slots right ? (Please comfirm)

I am thinking about changing my gfx card to a 675m and will my GPU be able to support it?

I will be buying 8gbx2 Corsair Vengeance ram kit 1600mhz will it be able to work on the laptop ? Please advise
For my hard disk i will be buying corsair NEUTRON GTX RED 120GB will it be good enough ?

Hi, you have 2 drive bays, no msata port on the R3, so you have 1 spare bay. Some people have removed the DVD drive and this gives you a spare for another HD

The 675 is not a dell supported card in the R3 so you could have some problems, especially if you have a 120hz model but it will work, you just might need assistance ;)

Id say look for a 580m. It should be cheaper and is exactly the same as the 675, just rebranded.

Sorry i dont quite understand what do you mean by not a dell supported card. Do you mean that R3 models does not support 675 or all dell models ?

and one more question will you get Corsair Dominator Platinum or CORSAIR Vengeance (which is much more cheaper)
will a CORSAIR Vengeance perform as well as a dominator ? Advise please thank you very much :)

Dell only support cards that were available when the machine (R3) was sold originally. You might have problems with needing a modded driver or 3D on a 120hz model might not work. With the 580 it's all approved. The 680m for instance will not do 3D on an R3. Dell would need to update the bios and so far they have refused - a real pain for R3 owners wanting to upgrade

I'm no memory expert having only dealt with it on desktop builds. the original 1600 x 8gb it came with is all I need for a gaming rig ;)

You're welcome. The 580 is the best option over a 675 in the R3 since there is no difference in the specs/performance either.

    Good Luck :)
