Do we really need to wait for Dell to release drivers? What frequency do they do this?

Can we never install drivers from Nvidia website?

I am wondering why some of you are unable to get the driver updated automatically. Is it because of Nvidia gtx 660? I have and nvidia 675 r4 3d. Recently nvidia had revamped their driver update system which i think is really smooth. It allows you to be notified for both beta as well as certified drivers. I have never had an issue where the driver refused to install etc. Kindly enlighten me if this is restricted to r3. I am running on windows 8 pro.

    Regards

modified .inf have been around ever since the r1. surprised this is the first you guys are seeing this.

its very easy to do, just download the modified inf from ( LaptopVideo2Go hardware and driver community) install the inf in the nvidia installer. then run the installer.

dell website is very slow. if i waited for them to update the drivers for the r1. i would still be using 1xx series drivers.

But why does installing the drivers off the nvidia website not work like any other computer?

Is it only the gtx660m that does not work with the nvidia drivers though unless you modify the inf? Still struggling to work out as to why you would need to do this as the nvidia drivers should just work

the answer is, because we made some changed on origin hardware from m17xr3 that's mean the original driver can't be supported with our lappy now.. if u still curious about this, you can try check original specs GPU release of alienware m17xr3.. so when we placed a very latest series GPU card on our m17xr3... we need some modified .INF file to make it compatibility with our cards.. we just edit some line in .INF file to make it detect our laptop to be match when running Setup.exe .. :)
