The story is, i spash water into my m17x r2 by accidentally, but i don't turn it off, just using paper to absorb the water, and it seem doen't went wrong. Around 1 hour later, it suddenly turn off, and i can't turn it on again, not light, no fan, no screen, nothing.
Then i take it apart and found that my master vga (i have a crossfirex 5870s config) is fried, along with the pci-e slot got blackened.
After that, i tried to switch the slave vga in to master vga's slot, put everything back and turn the machine on, it really got powered on! keyboard, fans... work, but not the LCD! except no sign from the LCD, the machine seem to work okay, because the hdd indicator blink seem normal and a bit later the camera lighten, means for the facial recognition in windows log in.
So is there any chance that my mainboard still live? or because the pci-slot got blackened that the LCD not getting any signal?

There may be a possibility that your system is still ok (except the fried GPU).
Most probably the screen does not come on because you have inserted the SLAVE card into the MASTER slot. I do not know if it will be a possibility to flash a 'master GPU vbios' into the slave card. If you have warranty (without accidental damage), you may not have the option of being repaired by DELL.
You have many steps to take:
1. Check with a 'professional' if it will be possible to flash the master vbios in the slave card and you may have the chance of your system to work;
2. You will need to buy a master 5780m;
3. If any of 1&2 does not solve your problem, then you have lots of parts to replace i.e. LCD, motherboard etc.
Hope you will fix your system soon.

There is a gentleman here svl7, he may be able to help with the GPU vbios... -
@.@
is there different bios to use with the master/slave vga?
because last time i upgrade vbios from dell, the flash tool use the same file for them
anyway, thanks for reply, i got some relief now
and yes, i don't have accident warranty cover so no help from Dell for sure -
sounds like it is time for A replacement or see if you can get a new MB and Graphics card, things like this is why I have have accident warranty. I use mine at work and in the breakroom for gaming so even though I try and sit with the other gamers we still get a lot of people wanting to watch with food and drink in hand

svl7 has replied me that there's no different in vbios between master and slave vga, he also said that maybe the mxm slot got damaged and cannot output anything to lcd although the system boot ok, so maybe i have to replace motherboard, damn sad
can i put my seem-to-okay slave vga into R1 system to test whether it's alive or not? -
(mxm slot)
(vga slot)
tried many time, with the ok vga on the master slot, the system boot into windows without problem (using the facial recognition to log on and i can hear the welcome sound), but the lcd is pitch black, so the mainboard is faulty, right ?
