I have looked through some reply of dell forum saying transferring country also allow warranty to be in the newer country as long as it is within warranty.
eg. Refurbished alienware m17x r4 - Alienware Forum - Alienware Club - Dell Community
However, I contacted my newer location(Hong Kong) dell technician to repair my laptop, and they said I can only go back to the original country(UK) to get repair.

Please let me know if that is the case. Many Thanks!
PS:I am sorry if it has previously been discuss, as I saw cases of saying either side and I am not really sure about which is the case

You can transfer the warranty between countries only if the new location sells that model of notebook. So IF Hong Kong doesn't sell the m17x R4, then you can't transfer the warranty to that country since they don't normally cover the R4 as it is not sold in Hong Kong (or at least that's what I was told).

To the OP, you would have to file the transfer warranty form so Dell could transfer your original warranty to HK. Only after that Dell HK can repair your laptop.

Nope. You need to file a transfer warranty so Dell can trasfer the warranty to the Dell's branch that the system is currently in. I know many countries do not have authorization to sell AW system, yet there are a bunch of AW there. They buy AW from here and ship it to their countries. It may sound absurb but Dell US actually has the best service in term of customization and pricing.

Hmm. Interesting. I was told different by a Dell rep (not an Alienware rep). It made sense to me. If Alienware doesn't sell the system in the destination country, there would be no reason to have warranty support for that system there either. Just more proof that the Dell phone reps don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Yeah. I heard it takes much longer for repair in those countries because they don't normally carry the parts in stock but they do honor the warranty, as long as there is a branch of Dell in that country and the warranty is transferred to that country. An AW rep may be able to confirm this. It's from my own experience and it may differs in other countries.

I look up info on this because I'm actually moving out of the US by Dec and the country I will reside do not sell AW, at least officially. I will be probably extend my warranty if an AW rep can confirm this is true :).

P/S: I believe this is the form that the OP would have to fill out.

    http://www.dell.com/support/retail/us/en/19/ownershiptransfer/IdentifySystem

And this is the non-transferable system list, I don't think I see the Alienware name in this.

I'm sorry that I double post twice. An iPad is actually a bit hard to manage through the forum :(.

PS: Hong Kong do sell M17X R3 before.

That sounds like BS to me. When you buy a refurb it comes with a full dell warranty - supported in any country where dell have a presence. If you can transfer the warranty (the form will only allow to dell approved countries) then it will be covered, BUT the support operation in some countries do argue and you sometimes have to escalate to dell corporate to get then to honor their obligations to dell .

One thing that does not transfer in some countries it the 'accidental damage'. I've transferred a bunch of dell laptops to Mexico and Brazil and 'lost' the accidental damage coverage already paid for.

That happens to one guy from India in this forum. I think he sent an email to Michael Dell or something LOL. I suggest you try something similar. Some countries just like to discriminate refurb models :(.

Refurbished or not, if you bought it through Dell it shouldn't make a difference. However, not sure if they provide service to systems not sold in the country, I think they usually don't because of parts stock availability.
