so my new R3 can play Starcraft 2 on all ultra settings with good FPS, but it can't play minecraft....at all. I get into the game and i can barely move because it is so laggy. It takes like 30 seconds to turn around.

    What is wrong?

On a side note, revisiting a network issue i posted about earlier, it seems while my R3 is connected to the internet, if any other laptop, xbox, or desktop connects it immediately disconnects me from my R3 and wont let me reconnect. On the other hand, if im on my xbox and i connect on my R3 it disconnects me from xbox live...

What are your specs? Is it running it off integrated graphics by accident?

Your r3 wants you to quit playing Minecraft, obviously.

    Cut the addiction! :p

I've actually never played. I just bought it. The addiction is only beginning!

And its just the stock specs for teh R3 + the GTX 460m. I feel no need to even list the specs as minecraft is a game that can be played on any computer made in the last 10 years. Even running on integrated graphics this game should run.

you can play the game off the browser lol

which makes me think... are you playing off the browser or off your computer?

if its on the browser, it could be your plugin, if its running off your computer ... then somethings wrong, because even your cpu gpu can run it smoothly

Something is wrong, and i can't figure it out. I'm playing it off the computer... even my old 2007 macbook can handle this game great... and it uses nothing but integrated graphics on a way slower cpu

Well, I think minecraft is pretty much CPU-only (correct me please), maybe it's something with Sandy Bridge?

Okay so it's all in the Fancy graphics apparently. I switched it to fast graphics and now i can play fine... but render distance doesnt matter. It can be "Far" or "tiny", doesnt matter.

Are fancy graphics on minecraft really too much for an alienware? I'm pretty dissapointed....

EDIT: Nevermind. Even on fast graphics its still kind of choppy. Even with Render distance at Tiny and fast graphics its still choppy....

It's okay on my R2, around 40-150 fps depending if it's loading new areas, perhaps minecraft + SB = bad? If so, it'll prob be patched soon, otherwise you could download the improved performance mod, for the life of me I can't find the link, its on the minecraft forum somewhere.
