    Hi,
How do I know if I'm on the latest drivers? In the ATI control centre it says:

    Driver Packaging Version 8.692.2-100203a1-095371C-Dell
    Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
    2D Driver Version 8.01.01.994
    2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
    Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0723
    OpenGL Version 6.14.10.9263
    Catalyst™ Control Center Version 2010.0203.2211.39787

    cheers,

Looks to me like you are on Dell default. I suggest updating followed by vbios flash. You can find a guide or two here, if you'd like.

Yep, thats default Dell (10.6?). You could prob get better performance out of 10.10 or, brand new, 10.11. But remember the vbios update off of he Dell driver site!

Anything on 10.11 yet? Downloading now.

EDIT: Every time I try to download it from the software suite thing, it auto-cancels. ?

EDIT 2: Apparently, the third time IS the charm...

    "download is canceled"

over and over again. clicking start download a second time causes the downloader to freeze.

    wth?

That's what I'm most frustrated with. If I turn any AA on whatsoever I see a MASSIVE performance drop across the board. With such a high end card configuration, I don't expect to see this kind of nonsense. I can't wait until they fix this >.<

Is that with Morphological AA turned on? If it's off and you stick to multisampling AA, the performance drop shouldn't be bad at all.

    Most games are.. (example)
    80 fps without AA
    72 fps with 2xAA
    65 fps with 4xAA
etc.. no game should ever drop 50 percent if 2xAA is enabled. If so, there is a serious issue with driver install or the game itself.

I have a 4870 and using the standard Dell 8.763 drivers
Is there any benefit to me updating to these and what is the best proceedure for doing so .
Do i download the whole package on the ATI page ( there are 2 things come up on mine )
Should i uninstall all ATI stuff first and whats the best way to fully remove it ?

Of course, super sample AA always causes a huge hit in performance.

I noticed a nice difference, most of the lag is gone even though once in a great while I notice a little hiccup but not like before. Usually with non Dell drivers they won't install but these installed great, I recommend them!

how exactly did you install these drivers? I'm still using del's latest drivers, the one that needed the vbios upgrade. Do I need to uninstall my current drivers first before installing these ones or i could just append it?

Watch what happens when you start the download. The link says 10.11 but the file name is 10.10.
I dont think i'm gonna try these just yet. I just got the dell drivers working smoothly.

Yes, I installed 10.11 last night. Make sure you fully uninstall the old driver, I used Driver Sweeper after I uninstalled the old driver and rebooted. No issues so far. I ran Black Ops for awhile, looks good.

OK guys - if i want to install these latest AMD 10.11's, what is the exact process i need to follow??

Im currently on Dell 8.763 (latest dell) with vbios.

When i last tried to run driversweeper to clean, it didnt work but i am presuming that is because they dont "sweep" dell drivers, just ati / nvidia etc?? - so do i need to run it?

    Any help appreciated.

uninstall dell ati driver, including app profile, restart, run driver sweeper (v2.7.5), sweep, restart. you should have standard VGA Driver in your device manager by now. check just in case. then run setup 10.11, restart, setup app profile 10.11. that's it.

I wouldn't sweep unless you're having problems. Half the time it'll do more harm than good in windows 7.

I just downloaded 10.11 installed, downloaded CAP 10.11 installed and BFBC2 is still flickering and suffers from random FPS slow down - about 1FPS for approx 4 seconds.

I think they have abandoned any fixes for this game.

Also, if i restart without being on Standard VGA, i will get endless BSOD cause im on the new vbios......also, i doubt driversweeper would work as i have NEVER had any branded drivers other than Dell drivers and i dont think there is an option within driversweeper to clean dell drivers???

Dell drivers are modified ATi drivers verified by Dell to be stable, nothing more, Driver sweeper doesn't know the difference.

Tried them with my 4870 X2 mobilities. Only game I've tested so far was GTA4. Got about a 5fps boost and my minimum frame-rate also went up significantly as well.

Haven't tried any other games, but if this is across the board then this is awesome!

Is that only in multiplayer? I am not quite done with single player but I have never seen anything like you describe.

I'm using the steam version, and the only issue I’ve come across is once and a while I will not be getting 60 FPS when I go into the game, and crossfire is not being fully utilized. In my case it is user caused and it only happens when I click around on anything during the game startup. I think it confuses it and it won’t run right so I just exit and go back in and not click on anything during startup of the game. It is very predictable, and runs about half speed so it’s obvious when I did it.

Empire Total Wars is still very buggy with crossfire ON. Very long load times and a lot of flickering on the campaign maps, forcing you to disable crossfire.

Crossfire also still not working with Two Worlds 2, with very low FPS. Also forces you to disable crossfire to get acceptable frame rates (or rename .EXE file and get loads of lighting glitches).

Other games working fine for me, including BF:BC2.

    I have a question

I have the latest Dell drivers (8.763-100810a-104118C-Dell) with the latest VBios.

I have installed CCC 10.10 (only the control center) from ATI/AMD wesbite.

does it conflict with the set of drivers that i have or it does not really matter?

if I installed CCC 10.11 will it conflict with the my current drivers?

reason is i tried to run some benchmarking using "PerformenceTest 7.0" and i got the lowest FPS rates in 3D compared to others (same hardware e.g. CPU, GPU and RAM).

    any advice?

If you install the new 10.11 CCC, there will be no problem. In CCC, how do you have your 3d settings configured? I know that as a new Alienware user these settings gave me quite a headache and are still a bit confusing to such a noob :) Try turning AA to multisample down from supersample, enabling Catalyst AI and set it to advanced, turn mipmapping all the way up, etc. Make sure that you're not in stealth mode and also that you have the latest BIOS flashed to your GPUs. Also, make sure that you have Crossfire enabled in CCC. Good luck!

When I get home (currently out of town) I'll try installing them and see if I have any luck with Crossfire in Civilization V. Keep hoping that the next driver update will resolve it...haven't given up all hope yet :)

I can also try Total War and see if I'm seeing any flickering, I don't recall a problem before, but I'm on 4870's so not sure if that's the difference or not.
