If you want a positive point towards getting the 1440x900 screen, it does mean because of the lower resolution that you will be able to max out games at native res for longer than if u had the rgbled since it requires less performance to fill it meaning higher frame rates, and that's always a good thing ;)

I agree 100% with oogamar. I had a 1440x900 LCD on my E1705. I was completely satisfied with it, and did a ton of gaming as well. As long as you're going with single card configuration, a 1440x900 LCD will be fine for you.

    to me it looks fine!!!
as the other guys said above the WUXGA is very nice as it has a lot of desktop place, but it is kinda hard to read text. sometimes i stick my head to close to read. i hope it is the LCD and not me wanting glasses though ;)

I have just a simple answer for you with not too much technical details, which obviously will push you to get the RGB: Get what you can buy . . .

Time ago i was in the same trouble, i had not enough to get the RGB, and all these guys said it will be cool to get this, but, i wasn't able, by fortune i got my shot with a discount and i got it, for me the normal screen will looks cool to, actually, i dont feel so that impressed with the RGB, go for it, get your AW,l that res is great also :)

I am going to be completely honest. The M17X R2 is not made for anything less that the 1200p resolution and the RGB screen is just amazing.

Really get the screen and upgrade other stuff later like HDD, RAM, etc...

Don't know if this will help, and it kind of contradicts my last post, but oh well. When I had my R1, my wife would always want to go outside and sit on the porch with her Dell Mini. I would bring my laptop out there, but I could barely see anything in most of my games, and it hurt my eyes. Yesterday afternoon I took my R2 out with the LED LCD and attempted to play STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, which is not a very bright game to begin with. This LCD is much brighter, and much more vibrant. I was playing in the shade of my porch and could still see well enough to play the game for several hours, even with the glare from the LCD cover. I could NOT do this with my R1. Food for thought.
