Looking for some help/suggestion on what to upgrade to that this laptop can handle. I am comfortable installing cards and problem finding possible bios/vbios issues but I am not great at compatibility of hardware between old and newer.
I've looked at 8970 as possible replacement but little information out there. I heard 7970 is also good but only if it is a later revision which I have no idea how to check.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

HD 8970M is the best bang for the buck. I'd go for that one, I think you need a mod on your heatsink tho, other than that a BIOS update would be helpful and Alienware vBios on the card is also preferbly.
