I'm installing an 870m with J95's instructions and have hit an issue. I'm trying to install the 337.50 driver. I have replaced the .inf file but when I try it use the setup.exe file it tells me that the install cannot continue. The driver cannot find the video card. Not sure what I should next. Try a different driver?

Did the instructions and inf you used state the 870m? Try the inf from here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers- you don't need the whole driver, just match the one you have and follow it to the inf :)

    Good luck ;)

I did try a driver from there. Same result. I tried several drivers all come out the same. According to the NVIDIA site the 337.50 is the correct one. I should have mentioned that this is a Windows 7 installation. I have disabled integrated graphics, integrated sound and set the video to PEG in the BIOS.

Luckily I was thinking win7. You appear to have done everything you need to for it to work :(.

What is the exact error, and you are sure you are replacing the matching inf in the driver files (getting the overwrite prompt)?

The win 8 designation on LV2Go is confusing it's win 7 also

After that I'm at a loss - but maybe something will come to me ;)...

The installer says that it cannot find compatible hardware, or something like that. I have been extracting the new .inf file directly to the Display.Driver folder. I do get a prompt to replace the existing file. Maybe there is something screwy in that method. I'll try extracting the .inf file to a different location then replace the file in the Display.Driver folder. I would be more worried if the card didn't work at all. But it is and it even says NVIDIA Graphics in the BIOS. So it's there, it just seems like I am missing something in the install.

Sure sounds like an inf/driver problem. That is the exact issue with a missmatch or it does not include your cards details.

Make sure you are saving the inf as-is and not as txt file. This will add a hidden extension and the driver will fail to see it :( grabbing at straws here!

You might need to get the hardware ID from Device Manager and look up how to edit the inf yourself. The only guy I know that could help is busy with his day job right now ;).

I'm thinking the 870m has not been added yet along with your model ID to the modified inf's you have tried??

Have been playing Wolfenstein: New Order the past couple of days. Really consistent 60FPS, temp max 63c. This game is clearly made for consoles so I wouldn't expect to have many issues. I'll test with Watch Dogs once it's finally released.

You need to disable IGP (integrated graphics) and set display to PEG. Did you flash the unlocked BIOS?

I have not. I once had a link to one from somewhere on this forum and I lost it, do you happen to have it?

Sorry about not having all this ready, I'm new to this and all the info I've been able to find was this thread :)

    M17xR4/60Hz (Pci\ven_10de&dev_1199&subsys_05511028&rev_a1)
    - First flash stock A11 BIOS (disable secure boot and set legacy boot instead) then follow method 2 (FPT), A11 unlocked BIOS [M17x R4] - 'unlocked' BIOS versions

Sounds good, I will look into doing this tonight :). I'm gonna assume after I get the unlocked bios, disable IGP, set display to PEG, then edit and setup the drivers like you posted previously, I should be good?

Nope (M17xR3 installation), once you disable IGP and set PEG the Ids will change 057B1028 (current 05511028), still re-post results.

ok so i was able to reset my bios and get access to my computer again. here are the two things i did:

Advanced -> Video Configuration -> Internal Graphics Device -> Internal Graphics Device -> disable
Advanced -> Video Configuration -> Internal Graphics Device ->Always Enable PEG -> enable

from testing it was the first one that caused my computer to not boot and give 8 beeps. any idea what i am doing wrong? and are those the 2 things i need to do that you mentioned?

I also seem to have lost sound, when i hover over the sound button in the lower right it says No Audio Input Device is installed

No problem. You must Keep the BIOS settings. Repeat the previous steps (modding nvdmi.inf) with every driver release.
