    Hi
I have had my Alienware 17x R3 580m for over about two weeks now and found when play demanding games throttling occurs. So i changed to A04 bios to stop this, but now I get BSOD as soon as I plug my LCD HDMI tv into the HDMI port on laptop! I downgraded from latest GPU drivers to Dell stock GPU drivers on website, but no joy.. Is there anyone else having same problem? I have now upgraded to A08 bios, but get throttling :( Does anyone have a solution to BSOD when on the A04 bios?

    Regards Darren

I have installed the modded A04 bios and switched off the Intel 3000 GPU in bios. I then tried HDMI to my tv and its working. very strange! it must be the A04 bios version which is not compatable with the intel 3000 HDMI? i am going to enable the intel 3000 GPU then I will update the intel driver from intel website and see if that makes a difference...

^ I assume you are overclocking since there have been no reports of throttling on stock.

I have not overclocked, had problems with stock playing crysis 2 with direct X 11 and added shaders on ultra settings. slows down to 5fps from 25-28fps for a 10 seconds random in the game. I checked out my gpu temp on heaven benchmark and it runs at 68 on high settings but not checked what temps when playing crysis 2. I enabled the intel GPU in Bios and installed latest intel 3000 driver from intel website and not getting BSOD anymore connecting to hdmi. I will hopefully not get any throttling either.... I will let you know what temp in crysis 2 should not get throttling with A04 bios...
this thread may help someone else :)

Try a repaste. I still need to do mine but keep forgetting. I run on an external projector @ 720p which seems to not heat up as much...
