    Hi

I see alot of people are having issues with throttling on 580m, which can be fixed by downgrading bios to dells A04 bios. The problem is that people who have bought a 3D 120htz screen with there 17x r3 will not be able to play 3D games on the dell A04 bios. There is a beta Mod which needs testing to fix above problems here A08 w/ Unlocked Options & 580M GPU Thermal Throttle Removal
I have loaded the A08 mod which disabled throttling, but LVNeptune reported that didn't enable 3D. latest A04 mod is on my laptop and no throttling as you would expect.
I am unable to test if 3D if working because I don't have 3D! The final mod with have all the features of dells A08 but with no throttling :) Please post your results here..

You don't have 3D version, so can you do the same process I went through to see if it removes throttling for your system as well for A08 dell bios. See my post in the bios thread.

Would be great if it fixed both 3D and none 3D 580m throttling in the latest bios.

Perhaps for it to work you need to brick your laptop ;). Since the moded A04 doesn't do it to you, it doesn't have the desired effect.

LVNeptune has another bios that screwed his laptop, and after reflashing A08 it fixed his throttling. PM him to get a copy. It is worth a try.

BTW, when you're flashing the A08 you're doing it through the blind recovery method LVNetputen documented, right? I think this flashing method might be a key step.

Yes it will work without broken bios. Remove the battery hold the end key... etc.

Anyway I posted a reply in the bios forum, read it and tell us how happy you are when it is working ;). I hope it will ;)

    Guess what, it works! :)

I installed the Dell bios A04 from dell website and then overwrite with the modded a04 provided by Ahmed.
I used the already created USB stick recovery A08 if bricked system as follows http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...y-case-you-brick-your-m17xr3.html#post7791370 A08 bios loaded ok, when booted up tested via furmark the throttle had been removed :)

Read thread, fix on page 5 with download and instructions.

I flashed from my A08 that wasn't throttling straight to his new A08 and the throttle came back (?)...

    I can't find my USB stick right now so I can't flash A04 :(
