When using HDMI-Out to my TV, the screen will randomly flicker/stutter. When this happens, sound is disabled.

    Suggestions?

    edit:
sound restarts if I turn TV volume up/down
issue stops if i constantly use the laptop itself (but I'm trying to watch a movie).
power plan set to high performance with HDD never turn off, never sleep, never dim/turn off display, selective suspend USB off
Tried powerplay on and off. No change.

Get a better HDMI cable, the one you are using is low quality...

had the same issue with some low quality cables I purchased. Chances are if you drop the resolution down to 720p it will work, cable just isn't rated for that high of bandwidth.

Make sure the cable is securely plugged as well, sometimes the point of connection on the laptop or the monitor itself may be slightly loose depending on the quality of the cable. make sure it's pushed all the way in.

I agree with Neptune, Try a better cable. I had this issue with my asus g73 before. And I bought a better cable and I didnt experienced it again.

I had a similar issue once... even sent my receiver back. Turned out to be a crappy HDMI cable. Try a short one (if possible), as even a cheap 6 ft HDMI cable can easily handle 1080p.
