My AW m17x specs are at the end of this post. I have 3 major issues, listed below in decreasing priority. I'm still looking for a laptop that would support transferring signal to an Ultra HD TV. MY MAIN USE is to screen capture text on powerpoint slideshow and the audio from PC's speakers, combine them to render videos

    1. I went to Future Shop, connected my AW with HDMI to a Sony 4k 3840x2160 resolution TV, selected 'projector only' display option with the above mentioned resolution and got flickering on the screen. AW was in high performance mode.

Any ideas why would that be the case?

    2. The sticker says it is 3.4GhZ (turbo mode) but the properties section in my computers showed 2.4GhZ. how do i get it working in turbo mode?

    3. Windows experience index was 5.9. All fields were 7.8 and above but the points windows gave it in the section of "disk transfer data rate" was five point something. How crucial is that?

    Specs

    Monitor: 17.3" WLED FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-Glare Display
    Processor: 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
    Memory: 16GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz
    Hard Drive: 750GB SATA 3Gb/s (7,200 RPM)
    Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 770M with 3GB GDDR5

First of all, welcome to NBR! Good to have you here
    As for your queries

    1. I am pretty sure HDMI doesnt support resolutions more than 1920x1080 and that too at max 30hz
probably this could be the reason
try using the DisplayPort video out

    2. Turbo mode isn't permanent
The cpu cycles between various clock speeds dynamically if the circumstances allow.
Eg. Turbo has a power limit, as long as the cpu operates under the power limit and the temperatures do not cross a threshold, your cpu will keep the turbo speed.
As soon as it crosses power/temperature limit, it will down clock itself(in your case, to 2.4ghz)
No need to worry about that, you cant do anything either

    3. Windows experience index should not be considered as an absolute rating or a benchmark. You get the system rating for the lowest performing part(like, your system is as fast as the slowest fast)
take these scores with a pinch of salt
low scores in disk transfers is normal with HDDs
you should try a SSD for the best performance

I hope i cleared all your doubts
    Welcome!

Many thanks for the detailed answer. Much appreciated.
I didn't know about the limitation of the wire. I will look into it.
Found a good post here, trying to figure out the code they have but tomorrow I'm going to go tomorrow or day after and try out with a Hi Speed HDMi that says 'Supports 4k resolution'.
HDMI with resolution 2560 x 1440 possible? - Super User

Don't have AW anymore. I'll try with my friend's HP Envy (740m 2GB NVidia)
