I doubt it's a coincidence but I disabled optimus today, then when playing a game the gpu driver crashed. Tried to reboot now I'm getting 8 beeps. Pulled the cmos battery but apparently that doesn't do anything on this model from what I'm reading. Tried a different video card and no video card and still get 8 beeps.

I also had it plugged into a monitor with the HDMI cable when this happened.

Have you removed the battery and fully discharged the power by pressing the power button for 10+ seconds and then restarting?

Many times. I didn't do that with the cmos battery out since the whole laptop was apart though. Have to take the motherboard out to get to it.

Take out the cmos battery don't work. Only a new screen or wait to see if other can fix the problem.
