I made my order on the 15th and when I saw this post on the 16th, I though "Just my luck..."
Anyway, today I called the EPP hotline and the offer is still available to the 29th or until the coupon sells out. I called dell to try and cancel my order and they can't >.>
I did get my order expidited and 100 off on top of all my other discounts I guess that's something.

 

I've talked to several reps so far and they either couldnt find it or me working for the university doesnt qualify.

 

I just got a new 18x with it. She was able to apply the EPP 2% as well as 25%, then threw in the NBD Delivery. My EPP rep does rock.

Now to find a home for the 17x..

Just ordered an R3 yesterday with the 25% coupon, I just mentioned I worked for the university I graduated from. It was my 7th call in, the first 6 said the coupon didn't exist, was a weekend deal only, didn't apply for universities, etc. According to the rep that helped me, the coupon is available until the end of July for employees of companies associated with the EPP program. I assume that doesn't include students...

 

Woot! Success! Called in, cancelled my existing order and reordered with the discount. Took my order from costing $1970 to like $1580. Awesome discount guys! Thanks for the heads up!

 

I don't really get EPP. So the rest of us get the 15% off coupon but only some get the 25% off? why should I pay 10% more for the same laptop? I mean I get it..but I question how fair it is.

 

My company purchased over 16k computers from Dell, I guess its a perk.

 

I mean if its a big deal, return the laptop and buy one @ 25% off. You can get the deal too, the key is persistence with CSRs.

Although it is worth mentioning that:
15% + free Xbox promo including $50 Gift card ~ 25%

If Xbox MSRP is 200, the difference between 15% to 25% will be around 250ish depending on how many upgrades..

The point is that with the current promotions you can get roughly the same deal, but youre receiving your extra 200 as an xbox, not cash. You could always resell your xbox for a few under 200 and cut your losses (assuming you are a student or have a student in your family)..

 

Red Eye Express' m18x costs the same as my m17x. I had the irrational impulse to return for the second time my laptop (the second one hasn't even arrived yet), but then I accepted that I don't want to lie about working for a company that can claim the 25% off. Stupid morality.

I really don't think so - I work for an arts non-profit, and a smallish one at that. We go through the small business department at Dell for our orders, and we probably have ordered maybe 10 Dells in the last three years. I know for sure my company has never set up a true business relationship with Dell.

 

Can no longer give out the rep's info. Too many people called in and lied about where they were working.

 

$1836 for a M18x w/6990x2 compared to......1800 for a Asus G74.....or 1900 for a M17x w/1x 6990......Yeah I'd say this is a good deal.

2630QM > upgrade to 2920XM ES for $300ish and 8GB of 1600 ram on newegg - steal. Also coupon is not dead. It dies the 29th. Just get a rep that knows about it.

 

correction as a m17x would be eligible for the 25% off as well. an m17x with one 6990 and 1080p screen would be $1461.

 

Something to consider for all of you dying to trade in your 6970s, granted there is no way your 6970 will complete with a 6990 @ stock clocks, but if you OC a 6970 to 820/1100 (pretty much everyone can do this), then the 6970 would be equal to the 6990. I am basing this off of the 3dmarkVantage scores posted @ notebookcheck.com. If you can return your 6970 and get the 6990 great, if you can't, don't worry about it, you still have a great laptop.

 

Yup. But not everyone has an epp account. I'm comparing retail value.

If a mod can close this thread I made it to ask if I should buy an M17x but I ended up buying a M18x. No point in continuing this thread.

I had the same problem as you. I ordered one day before this discount and thought to myself, I've been scammed!

Then I thought to myself, the person who bought the same system as me a day before me spent $100+ more..
