    2nd HDD wont recognize [Help]

    I just added a 1TB internal to my alienware m17xR3. Im in device manager trying to set it up but when I right click the drive it doesnt give me a format option. Anyone have any idea what I need to be doing?

    Assign it a path letter. E:\ for example. Any letter will do. I think its in the new simple volume. If not try right clicking the disk at the top where all drives are listed. Easy peasy. ;)

    That's normal since it's new!
    Choose New Simple Volume, assign a letter, format and you'll be able to use it.

    Regular format will take quite a while. Don't really think it will gain you anything. Though honestly I don't know what the difference would be.

    Quick format it is :) so glad I have a nice big amount of space now to put all those Steam games. Thanks for all your help.

    A quick format will do just fine.
    But a regular format will also scan for bad sectors thus takes longer.

    You'll say "Well, i'll go with the quick one since it takes a few seconds", in this case it's your choice but keep in mind that even new HDDs can come with bad sectors, less likely but it happens.
