Or should I just keep my 128 M4 as boot drive w/ a 750 gig 7200 rpm storage drive...

I'm a pretty big noob would the 2x Crucial M4 512 gig in raid be really fast?

I've already got 3 of these 512 gig m4s just chilling here in their boxes so it wouldn't be an investment or anything I'm just wondering if its worth doing this?

    I've got the r3 btw

What I'm wondering is if it will work in raid to double the read/write speeds?

not sure about that. Why not remove your 128gb and 750gb and give it a try? Worst case you can just out back your old drives.

RAID 0: faster but no significant difference in real life only benchmarks, LOSS OF TRIM, assuming one fails -> everything is lost.
Up to you to weigh the situation.

SSDs are already fast enough so what you can do is keep one as boot drive, apps games and put a larger magnetic one for storage, or even place a optical HDD enclosure to replace your optical drive if you don't really use it. Place it in a external USB enclosure and use it when you need it.

    Cheers

Well because if it doesn't work the resale value of those ssds drop... but if they work as intended it will be well worth it.

Was wondering if anyone could confirm whether or not running both of them bad boys in raid will double the read/write speed.

To me, it doesn't seem worth it. $1,600 just to raid 0 something already very fast doesn't seem like its worth the cost.

i would just go for 1 and a normal drive. or both but then in non raid config.

2x Crucial M4 512 gig in raid? Now that is sick....sick expensive.

Your computer will be fast as hell in benches, but that's a lot of cash

If you have already got the drives sitting around, then got for it!!

You might find this useful. Intel 510 Series 250GB SSDs Reviewed in RAID 0 - Intel 510 Series - Intel Fills the Gap - Legit Reviews.

    And this: http://thessdreview.com/our-reviews/raid0-the-ssd-simple-to-build-and-lightning-fast/.

Lot of benchmarks. Raid 0 results in awesome increases in sequential read/write speeds, but almost no increase in 4K random read/write speeds for the Intel drives, but large increases with the Crucial SSD's.
Lot of articles and discussions available through Google that can tell you more than you may want to know about running SSD's in Raid 0 arrays.
