Sorry to rekindle an old topic here, but looking to save myself some pain and heartache when I try this upgrade tomorrow.

So I'm going from a single 5400rpm mechanical drive.

    To:
    (2) 2.5 1TB SSD EVO 860s
    (1) MSATA EVO 1TB 860

I'm trying to confirm the best configuration to put them in. If I understand after installing them then using the Alienware restore disks I need to run the Intel Storage Utility and select it accelerate, and specify the MSATA drive as the cache drive and then it will handle the rest via the RAID? Is it really that simple?

    Thanks,
    CR

EDIT: This is the 17x 2014 edition.

The 950 MSATA looks to have a better performance over the 960 one.

No need for use of cashe drive if you go from mechanical old spinning hdd to ssd’s.
