3 Drives in M17x R4? 675m/680/3D Swap [supply shortage]? R5 Refresh?

Hey guys!

Can you fit 3 Drives in the M17x?

From what I understand there's an mSata internal port. What will fit there? Just an SSD? I've got 2.5" drives out the butt, any chance one of them will fit?

Also, Dell is swapping out my non-3D display with a 3D display. What should I expect to be different? Will battery life suffer due to the cut-off of the Intel4000?

Also, also, I'm trying to get Dell to swap out my 675m for a 680m. They've agreed to do it, but apparently, there are NONE anywhere. Anybody know what the supply time looks like? Did nVidia stop making them? Are there defects like I've read a few months ago that are limiting supply? I know it's a fantastic piece of hardware!

I also noticed you can no longer choose graphics hardware on the Alienware website at all. Are they priming for an R5 refresh so soon?

I think only msata ssd will fit in the r4. You can also put one in the optical bay with a caddy. I swapped mine out this weekend. So the r4 could technically have 4 drives. 3 2.5" and 1 msata.

Your battery life will suffer significantly from 3d screen. You loose approximately 40-50%

Don't know about 680m availability.

 

This is true, and we neither have any info about the backorder. It might be just a supply issue due to the ammount of PC's sold or something.
