Here's the issue: I have three Samsung SyncMaster S27B550Vs. My m17x has three outputs: HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort. I have one hooked-up through HDMI, one through VGA, and I'm trying to use the DisplayPort to enable a third monitor. The adapter plugs into the DisplayPort and gets its power from a USB port on my computer. The adapter provides a dual-link DVI (female). I'm using a dual-link DVI to HDMI to connect the adapter and my monitor. However, the display simply won't identify in Catalyst Control Center, or in the Windows display configuration page. I've tested the DVI to HDMI cord on another computer. I've tested the DisplayPort with a DP to HDMI passive cable. Both of them work. Has anyone else had trouble with a similar setup? I tried contacting Accell regarding my issue, but they're extremely hard to get a hold of. Apparently you need an account that you can only get through talking with a representative to access their firmware and downloads page.

So here's what I'm wondering: are the DisplayPorts on the R2 incapable of carrying an active signal? I did replace the original 5870m s with two 6990ms, but the DisplayPort works with a passive DisplayPort to HDMI cable. Someone has to be up on this issue. What can be done?

I think on the r2 the displayport and hdmi share a signal. So it is only capable of 2 externals. I believe on the m17x r4 and m18x r2 the new chipset allowed 3 externals to be connected.

Not true. I've had a display hooked up through DisplayPort to HDMI Passive cable and a display hooked up through HDMI to HDMI at once on this machine. I just can't seem to get the active connection of any kind to work. The active connection is what is needed to get the third monitor working. However, using this adapter made by accell (DisplayPower to DVI), the computer won't even recognize the monitor by itself without any other displays plugged in.
