OK, so my R3 went pop the other day with the same symptoms as an issue that happened in May 13 which ended up with the mobo/gpu being replaced under the original warranty.
I had another problem in Dec 13 which once again ended up with the mobo/gpu being replaced again as despite the fact that the warranty had expired the parts had a 1yr part warranty.
So imagine my surprise today when I phoned Dell today and was told my mobo/gpu only had 3 months warranty as replacement parts and if I wanted them fixed I'd be looking at a bill of 750 pounds (with fitting).
This obviously is not viable for a damn near 4yr old machine, and I said as much to the support staff, and was informed this was what the legal debt advised and was a new policy that had recently been put into place.
Anybody else been given this particular line recently?

Did you tell them the law extends further than the manufacture's warranty?

As for the parts only getting 3 month warranty I would not be surprised. Any tech company will not buy (or even be able to buy) brand new parts for a 4 year old laptops, because nobody would make those parts anymore. All their parts are refurbished and might not have the life expectancy as a brand new part. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Dell and almost every other manufacturer give you a 90 day part warranty or the balance of the manufacturer warranty, whichever is longer.
