I haven't tested a bunch out but I have tested HL2 and Portal and they both seem to show a shadow image when I set the depth to what I like...Even if I drop the depth to as low as possible I still see a slight shadow, I do NOT see this on my PC downstairs.
Anyone have this issue or know how to resolve it? I think my desktop has another option for depth but it isn't called "depth"
-
Does the nVidia 3D driver give you any settings direction in the bottom right of the game screen? -
Yes, I set it to the properties the driver said but I still get a slight shadow.
I need to get ahold of a 3D movie to test at some point but the shadow is annoying, definately does not happen on my desktop. -
Hi LVNeptune,
Take a 3d screenshot of the shadowing (ALT + F1) and post here. We should (or shouldn't) be able to see it too.
I get those too on places where bright whites hit darks, but changing the depth of field helps. -
I didn't see anything like that on my R3 and I didn't change any settings except for depth -> 100%. But I also don't have any experience with 3D so maybe I just "don't know" it was there
.

not sure how you can see at depth @ 100% the images separate too far and cause HORRIBLE shadowing of images and it bleeds onto the other frame.
I will take pics tonight, thanks. -
Took a picture...where is it saved? Lol
Edit: Very frustrating, I don't know if it is me or not but if I close one eye sometimes there's a shadow image on the other eye the image + shadow next to it...
EDIT 2: Tried 3D Vision supported game, Civ 5, still see shadowing...Is it per-user? I don't have the best eyesight but I still think I should be able to see it properly. -
The screenshots are in your My Documents directory in a folder called NVStereoscopic3D.IMG.
Open it with the 3d picture viewer and let us know if you see ghosting. Then post it somewhere so that we could look at it too and see if we see what you're seeing. -
I see the ghosting

AH! Advanced settings in 3D setup page...Adjust convergence. Migth be what I need !
-
I took a look at the picture. Looks fine. No ghosting for me.
-
Looks like adjusting the convergence settings are helping...don't know why that option is kinda hidden away. I swear it was easier to find on my desktop.
EDIT:
If you can see that image without ghosting I am clueless...Maybe it's my glasses? Wouldn't make sense though -
Picture looks perfect. A little too much 3d depth for my taste and my eyes have to focus harder, but no ghosting at all. Maybe glasses or transmitter? Maybe more people could take a look at that image.
EDIT: Looking at one eye at a time, NO bleeding image for me. -
What are you looking at it with? The R3? I will test using an external emitter if you are...Maybe my emitter is going bad. I just tried with a different pair of glasses and same deal.
-
Yep I've got an R3 with the 3d bundle.
-
How do I explain this to tech support =/
-
i am also using the R3 to view.....it looks fine to me....what depth do you have it set to? is it more than the default? it does seem a bit deep, but other than that it looks good...i havent palyed portal in a while but it seems to look good in 3d. im have having fun personally playing assassins creed 2 again in 3d.....

I have depth around 100%, I can drop depth down...
What depth are you viewing it at? -

I've found that depth and a few of the other settings in the control panel are honestly 100% dependent on the particular game. For instance in COD:BO I have to set the depth about the middle, if it's low it doesn't look very 3D, if it's too high I have issues like the crosshairs appearing to be aimed somewhere that it isn't. On Metro 2033 it looks good at any settings and works as it should at any settings(just difference in what is should be DEPTH) because it's considered a 3D ready game(it's kind of a Nvidia fanboy type game because of the developers). I think the general situation I've found is that the better off the game is developed to work with 3D(3D Vision Ready>Excellent>Good>Fair>Poor>Not Recommended) the higher you can set the depth, anything below the excellent mark I've tried doesn't look all that good above standard depth settings. If you don't already know you can find the ratings of each game here: 3D Vision Game Compatibility Ratings Another thing to take into account is the fact that your other computer has different hardware so it's not going to be the exact same experience as you have with it. If you don't like it and it seems something is wrong call tech support to see if a fix can be found and if it can't either learn to live with it or return/exchange it
-
Going to test Metro 2033 right now...Haven't tried that yet on my laptop
-
I noticed the ghosting in that image I took from my main PC as well with 3 different pairs of glasses. It's definately not the setup...Not sure what else to do.
Did the 3D Vision test from my desktop and it shadows as well.
3D is fail tech =/
EDIT: I suppose I at least have a 120hz lcd which is cool...smoother games and video regardless...maybe I should switch out for a 6970 or return this and jump back on that maximum R2 deal for the same price. -
Might want to give this a read Reducing The Ghosting On Acer GD245HQ / GD235HZ 120Hz Monitors - 3D Vision Blog, let me know if the tips work for you, i am in the market for a M17 3D when they come back on sale, hopefully the issue can be solved with some tweaks...

I haven't had a single ghosting issue with mine so it may very well be something with your hardware/config/settings/etc LVNeptune, mine has been perfect on the ghosting issue. The only games I have had any issues at all with were ones rated below the "Excellent" level on Nvidia's list.

Yeah I have no issues with really bad ghosting and certainly no bleeding when viewing one eye at a time. Check out this Portal optimization guide. Maybe it will help you better:
