So I think this is odd lol, I know the comparison is kinda off the beating path but I saw a thread with the Asus G73JW sporting a 940xm and the 460m, some how i got better marks with my i5-520m @ 3.33ghz and stock clock 5870 than the Asus did.

Asus G73JW NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-940 Processor,ASUSTeK Computer Inc. G73Jw score: P2011 3DMarks

    My results http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4950540

Hopefully while I still have the i5 I'll get some benchs done with the 580m I bought that should be arriving shortly, should be interesting to see what a single 580m and an i5 first gen can do on 3dmark 11. I think its very possible that it could pull a 4000 on 3dmark 11, what do you guys think? I know its old tech but its still kicking with a vengence. And judging by the current highest 3dmark 11 single gpu 560m is the Asus G74sx, I think I can take him with a i5 and 580m as well. Not to mention the highest xfire 5870 with i5-520m right now is only popping 3700.

Anyways enough of my rambling, gimme some ideas, give me some overclock #'s to throw at the 580m, and I'll show ya the results as it goes. Could be fun to see an old dog beating up on the new kids.

Link in my sig was the highest 3D mark 11 Score I got with my 460m. Never did get a chance to run it on my 6990m yet though. :(

Not to far behind ya :p I'm at 2263 and thats with a 5870 single gpu and a i5-520m, the 580m is 15-20% more than 2 5870's, plus if I overclock the card I might be right along side your 460m, the 580m tho should probably pull 4000 atleast. But we shall see > :) muhahahaha! Wait.... I'm not suppose to be evil to a alienware now..... lol eh its only a r3 :p jk

Correction 2506 now with the card oc to 800/1100 and cpu at 3.62ghz :D Hurray!!!

I'll have to do a few runs with my current setup and see what happens. Earlier my 6990m was giving me fits while trying to run 3dmark 11 Overclocked, but hopefully I can crank something impressive out. ;)

It was some time back but I got 35xx overall on mine at stock clocks. That was in line with expectations, so never bothered with a overclock run
