    Hi,
Has anyone purchased 4 year warranty on their M17x?
4 year warranty and accident protection plan adds almost 600ish. I'm sure I won't regret picking it up if the laptop dies 3 years and 11 month later, but I'm just not sure if i'm getting something that may not really be used much.

From Dell.ca with GTX580 selected, few bells and whistles, and the 4 year warranty comes up to 3127.98 before taxes, and wow that's a lot...

Not like dell.com, there are a lot less options we can choose when customizing the M17X, so configuring the 580 gtx with 3d option on base 1499, would actually turn out a lot more than the option i selected.

Get the warranty. Dell will probably run out of R3 parts in 2-3 yrs then have to replace you with an R4/R5 if you ever need replacements.

You should try ordering everything stock except for CPU (Depends what you need) + Graphics card (580) + Wireless card (Bigfoot) + Display (1080p non 3D...in your case Id go 3D with 580 but not required). I just did that and added the 4 year Advanced and that came out to 2952 (I chose 2860 CPU). With some haggling/discounts im sure you can knock off a couple hundred dollars. As for upgrades you can just buy aftermarket stuff like RAM/SSD/HDD for much cheaper.

The setup in my sig I ordered stock with 2 years advanced and it came out to about 2200. IMO i dont think you need more than a couple years for warranty. I bought my laptop with american express and got an extra year of warranty for free through them.
