I think that 470m in sli is probably 3rd fastest, second to 6970 CF and 485M SLI. 480 SLI is actually slower.

But the performance upgrade over the 5870 will be quite a bit (3000-6000 more in 3dmarko6) but $1200 is quite alot.

Only question is, does the 470m have memory chips on both sides of the card like the 480m?, if it does you haven't got much chance cooling all the memory.

The other option would be to see if the 6970m will work when it come out, roughly the same performance at high resolutions as the 470m but at a lower price according to toms hardware anyway

Major bummer, because I would buy one today rather than an SB clevo.

This chipset bug is an opportunity to sell some more M15x and M17x units. Just update the video card and stick em on the Dell store!

ichime also had a pair of 460's that he could not get to work in his R2 so the 470s would also not work I am guessing

If there are memory chips on both sides of the card, cooling will be a problem in the R2 even if support wil be added somehow in BIOS.
