    Hello
I was going to repaste and repad my 4870's but stopped when the heatsinks wouldnt come off
Is it just the four screws that need removed ?
Maybe the heatsink is just stuck but i didnt want to pull to hard incase i broke something so i gave up and put it all back together after blowing out all dust etc

Just had a thought that maybe i should have gave it a twist although i never thought at the time :(
Is it just pull and twist till it frees its self ?

    Thanks

Yeh its just the 4 screws that need to be taken of
Sometimes the heat pads and the thermal paste can get stuck on pretty well
From my experiences you should be OK to pull it off as carefully as possible though

I put a plastic card against the card then use a wooden dowel (bamboo skewer) in between the card and heatsink and gently pry up.

This way, very little chance of any damage.

^That, and for heating the heatsinks i use a wind-proof lighter (not the Zippo type).

Thanks for the replys ... these are all good little tips .
Since blowing out all the dust my temps have dropped by around 3-4 degrees .
Still like to repaste and repad though .
