    Hi all,
I was just wondering, my 4870 master card went bad. I moved my slave card to the master card's position and it worked. Now do I have to move it back and make sure the replacement is a master or can I have any card and just slot it into the slave side? After I got a used replacement I noticed sellers giving different part numbers or stating master or slave. But I thought the different part numbers were due to the heat sync being left or right. But the card itself all had the same part number.
    Thanks for reading.

You can try either way and see if which way works better. Electronically, the cards should be identical. That's the only way the crossfire deal works. But I have seen slave cards flashed with slightly different VBIOS than the master cards. The only difference was there's something in the card's EPROM that declared it a slave card. But I haven't seen it in Dell branded cards. So if you got your replacement master from Dell or a Dell device, you should be fine.

De nada. Just make sure to wear an anti-static bracelet when working with the GPUs. They seem to be far more sensitive to static shocks than the rest of the notebook components.
