Received my R2 today, I had ordered it with the 4870mx2, but they sent me one with the 285m sli in it instead, otherwise everything looks correct.

The unit they sent me is kind of banged up and a few things are not working, so I started the exchange process. I still don't know what they will be sending, they said I should know within 24hours. I requested to know the configuration a few times, but they kept saying they could not.

The question I have however is are the 285m's better than the 4870's?
I looked around on google and here a bit, but could not find a definitive answer.
It seems like the 285's might be in the 5870's class but I'm not sure.

They're very close in performance. But with the 285M, you'll have the benefit of CUDA and PhysX (for what they're worth). Otherwise, they perform very similarly in games. I'd probably keep the 285Ms if I were you.
