    Hello.

Im mainly planning to play my new mx17-R3 in 1080p res with the 6970M but my ram has only 4GB. I thought it was safe to go with the 4GB as thats what i have on my gaming desktop and did not have any problems running games. I was just wondering tho, in terms of FPS is there any noticble improvement/performance to upgrade to 8GB ram from 4GB?

No fps improvement for rams , unless you are using 1866mhz(1-5fps increase), 2133mhz PnP rams from HyperX.

4GB is more than enough for most games. I would go with 4GB if I were you.

I have 8GB (max in R2) as I use my computer mostly for advanced programming. If I was just gaming, I would save myself the cash and go for 4GB.

I multitask between Windows 7 and an XP VM. I appreciate having 8GB of RAM.

As Brabostaan states, it is cheap and easy to upgrade. You can always see how it goes, and upgrade later if necessary.

RAM is dirt cheap now. How much are you actually saving between the 4GB and 8GB? I say go for 8GB. I have two 17x's and one has 4GB the other 8GB, the one with 8GB seems to multi-task better and faster

if you want really fast ram for benching and few fps gain , wait for Kingston 2133mhz PnP HyperX in July.
