Hi all, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I haven't found anything specific to date...

I'm looking at the Alienware 17 with GTX1080 coming out shortly. I've seen some reviews on 4k gaming which suggest some, but not all, games will run well at 4k with a GTX1080. It seems well documented that all games run superbly at 1440p however, so my questions -

I love the idea of going 4k screen, but I see little point if the GTX1080 isn't fully capable of running new and upcoming games at 30fps+. So if you go the 4k screen option and a game now or in future won't play very smoothly, what would playing at 1440p on a 4k screen look like? It's always best to play at native resolution, but does that still factor in so much with such a hi-res, 4k screen?

Or would it be best to go with the 1440p screen option, and enjoy everything at max?

If Alienware were still doing their SLI 18" model this would be a no brainer, but sadly they're not...
